What are the best women running shoes? What are the best running shoes for women? I have reeboks which kinda look like pumas, and they're my favorite shoes to run in because they're light. I have VERY old nike's, not great for running. Converses(chuck taylors high tops) they're alright. But what are some good and not very exspesive running shoes ($20 at the least-$90 at the most)

Best Running Shoes for Women? I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on a good woman's' running shoe. I used to jog a lot but for the past several years have had different problems with my knees, as well as having an operation on my foot around 6 years ago, and to top it off, I have a very bad case of calcific tendinitis in my rotator cuff, which I don't want to aggravate, either. My dr. had told me not to jog anymore, so I spent last summer doing a lot of walking, etc., instead. I still miss jogging though, and he has told me if I really want to jog then I should do it on a track of some sort instead of just on the sidewalk. Anyway, I have a couple of pairs of sneakers, I believe that they are both Rykas; the last pair I bought I went a half size up at the suggestion of the salesperson; apparently they run a bit small. I have liked them fine until all the walking I did in them last summer, but now I'm not sure that they are the best shoe for me. Disgustingly enough I have developed some toenail fungus which I am trying very hard to get rid of; having read the different things that can cause this I learned the shoes that don't fit properly are one culprit. These shoes do seem to make me toes hurt a little, especially the little toes, yet they aren't too small, any larger and they would be too big. I'm just basically hoping someone who has joint problems like I do may be able to direct me towards a line of shoes that can be used for anything from walking/hiking, biking, and jogging, with the least amount of joint damage. Women's Running shoes!? I need to purchase new running shoes. I currently run 5-7 miles per day mainly on the treadmill. I have narrow feet and VERY high arches. My current pair are Asics to which I added poly sorb insoles, I love them now, but they were really hard to break in, they pushed down on my toes for a long time (no they are not too small, I always get my feet measured and the size has been the same for a long time). So ladies or men who REALLY know about women's running shoes, can anyone recommend a shoe for my foot type and need that will not take forever to break in? I would love to go to a specialty running store, but there is not one in my area. BTW-I don't care about what is cute or trendy.

What is appropiate running gear for women? I started running a few weeks ago. My boyfriend (who is a runner) helped me pick out some cheap running shoes to start with. And I have just been wear my cotton dance shorts and either a sports bra and t-shirt or a athletic racer-back tank with a built in bra. Is there anything specific I SHOULD be wearing? Nike Shox Running Shoes HELP? I've been having trouble finding a good pair of running shoes. I was buying the cheap shoes from Big 5 because I don't want to spend that much money on a pair of running shoes that I'll only use for 2 months since I'm leaving for the Army and I know they issue us shoes in basic. But everytime I run around this local lake (2.5 miles long), I get shin splints. When I first started running in September 2009, I had shin splints and they took 2.5 months to heal. Very painful. Finally they went away after I discovered drinking Soy Milk was helping (because of the calcium, and since I'm lactose, I consume dairy around twice a MONTH). I kept running on the treadmill to train myself. Finally, 2 months ago, I took up running around the lake again. Shins were fine. Then, 2 weeks ago, I ran around the lake 3 times (7.5 miles), and my shin splints came back. Took a day off, and ran 2.5 miles again (only ran 1 mile and walked 1.5 miles) the day after that, and my calves and shins hurt so bad, I couldn't even walk (I was limping the rest of the way). Took a day off and ran on the treadmill again for the duration of the time. Finally, a couple days ago, I gave in and went to Footlocker, and bought a pair of the Women's Nike Shox with insoles made for women, and spent a total of $130 (which I find ridiculous considering I'll only be using them for a little less than 2 months now). The guy who was helping me seemed like he didn't know much about running shoes, so I kind of had to test them myself. I know you need to break shoes in, so I walked around the mall in them right after I purchased them. Then I headed to the lake and ran 2.5 miles in them. They were really comfortable, though made my feet feel stuffy and hot, and the shoes were heavy. I'm used to running shoes that are light and feel like feathers (usually has no cushion or insoles), so running in these shoes were quite difficult. It cut my 2.5 mile run by 2 minutes. Do you guys think it's because how heavy the shoes were and that I wasn't used to them? Anyways, I read some reviews that these are not good running shoes. Wanted opinions from the yahoo community as to your input on this, and if you think otherwise, what would you recommend (running shoes for women that help with shin splints or at leasts prevents them)?
