Is there a difference between soccer cleats and softball cleats? I have three pairs of soccer cleats. I no longer play soccer but use the cleats for playing field hockey because they are both the same. I now play softball but don't have cleats for it. Should I keep my daughter home from her softball game because she forgot her cleats? My 10-year old daugther plays softball for a recreation league in the evenings. It is her responsibility to pack her uniform before we leave home in the mornings and she changes at her afterschool care so that she is ready to go to the field by the time I pick her up. About a week ago she forgot her cleats at home and we went back home to pick them up right before the game but I told her if it happend again that we would both go home and stay home. At 5:30 in the evenings the traffic is horrible and not really worth fighting through to go home for some cleats and back to the field. Alas today when I picked her up she tells me she forgot her cleats again. I reminded her of what I told her last time and we went home. She missed the game. She cried for 10 minutes. Was that too harsh? I try to teach my kids about responsibility and how they have to be accountable for their actions. I'd like to hear from parents who are going through this or have already been through this. Thank you all for the thoughtful answers. Just to give you a few more details: 1. Cleats are required to play. And besides, the only sneakers she had on that day were her school sneakers. That red dirt on fields will wreck havoc on sneakers. 2. She usually plays two nights in a row so we have to wash the uniform each night. We don't get home until 7:30 pm so most times getting it to the trunk at night is not feasible. 3. She has two pair of cleats. The reason why she has 2 pair is because over the summer she was playing in an overnight tournament in another city and forgot her cleats at home. So we went to buy her another pair ($65) since going home was not an option. I've told her three times already to leave one pair in the car and one at home. Her dad has told her the same thing twice. 4. She prefers to carry a small bag with her to school with only the uniform because she has no room in her bookbag for anything other than books. That's why she leaves the cleats in the car.

Are my cleats causing my big toe to hurt so bad after a softball game? Is it the size or type of cleats? I have playing softball for years before but just started up again after a year layoff. Last year the same thing happened on the other big toe and it turned black for six months. Now after the game yesterday It feels like my toe nail is going to fall off again of the other foot.
