What are the best running shoes for women?

I was looking for some running shoes but the only kind of shoes I ever get are adidas or nikes. I have been noticing more that they really make my feet hurt. I was wondering about the saucony or acics'. Has anyone tried them and are they better than the other ones?

  1. I'm former AF and we did a lot of running. I was having trouble with finding a good pair of running shoes as well. It depends on the shape of your foot; you'll want to do some research, some stores can offer insight as to what type of running shoe will be best for your foot; everyone's feet are different and you will need some support in certain areas more than others. Asics is often the most recommended brand of running shoe (from my experience). But I do recommend researching. What are your feet shaped like, and what areas do you feel you need the support? For example, if you have a high arch or a flat foot. Like I said, an experienced salesperson will be able to guide you on this. Good luck.
  2. asics all the way.
  3. Your best bet is to go to a running specialty store. The people there should be trained to discuss your problems, and guide you to a better shoe. It might not be the brand, so much as the build of the shoe. We have different bio-mechanics. Our foot strikes are different, the way we pronate is different. Makers of running shoes make several different shoes to help us with our differences. For example, you might see one shoe designed for a "forefoot striker with high arches" and another shoe billed as a shoe for a "heal striker with medium pronation." When you go, bring in your current pair of running shoes and your next older pair, if you still have them. The wear patterns will provide clues as to what changes you should make. In addition, discuss your aches, pains, and any injuries you may have had. Good luck.
  4. asics gel!! i run cross country and they are amazing(but a little pricey)
  5. There is no such thing as "The best shoe for women" but there is such a thing as "the best shoe for you".I personally don't like Nike or Adidas for running. The seem to be more about style and gadgets than function.I love Brooks. You first have to figure out what kind of runner you are,and your running style. Then get fitted. Some of the best brands are: Brooks,Saucony,Asics,Mizuno and New Balance
  6. I've been running with Saucony's for 7 years - 7 pairs for 7 marathons. I love them, they are light weight and lots of support. Makes me feel like I can fly. :) Most people have the "neutral" feet but if you don't know what type of foot you have, visit your local running room and they have experts there who can help you choose the best one for you. They let you try on the shoes and run around in them. I've never worn the Asics or Brooks but I'm Saucony's all the way. -elaine www.truerunning.com
